- 2 lbs ground beef or turkey/venison
- 1 cup Ritz crackers or preferred crackers, crushed
- 1 egg beaten
- 1 cup milk any type
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/3 cup onion finely chopped (or 1 tbsp dried minced onion)
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
For the Sauce:
- 3/4 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup apricot preserves or grape/cherry jam
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 5×9 loaf pan.
In a large bowl, combine ground meat, crushed crackers, egg, milk, ketchup, onion, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Mix until well combined.
Transfer the mixture into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
Bake for 1 hour 30 minutes. During the last 30 minutes, prepare the sauce.
To make the sauce: Combine ketchup, brown sugar, apricot preserves, and Worcestershire sauce in a bowl. Stir until smooth.
After 45 minutes of baking, spread half the sauce over the meatloaf and return it to the oven.
Let the meatloaf rest for 15 minutes before slicing. Serve with the remaining sauce.
