Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground beef or turkey/venison
  • 1 cup Ritz crackers or preferred crackers, crushed
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1 cup milk any type
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/3 cup onion finely chopped (or 1 tbsp dried minced onion)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

For the Sauce:

  • 3/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup apricot preserves or grape/cherry jam
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 5×9 loaf pan.
  • In a large bowl, combine ground meat, crushed crackers, egg, milk, ketchup, onion, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Mix until well combined.
  • Transfer the mixture into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  • Bake for 1 hour 30 minutes. During the last 30 minutes, prepare the sauce.
  • To make the sauce: Combine ketchup, brown sugar, apricot preserves, and Worcestershire sauce in a bowl. Stir until smooth.
  • After 45 minutes of baking, spread half the sauce over the meatloaf and return it to the oven.
  • Let the meatloaf rest for 15 minutes before slicing. Serve with the remaining sauce.
