Ingredients

For the Wings:

  • 1.8 lbs 20 pieces chicken wings, separated into wingettes and drumettes
  • 1 tbsp light olive oil or avocado oil
  • 1 tbsp lemon pepper seasoning
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp sea salt

For the Hot Honey Sauce:

  • ¼ cup honey runny, high-quality
  • 2 tbsp hot sauce like Frank’s Hot Sauce
  • 1 tbsp salted butter
  • 1 tsp minced garlic or ½ tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice juice of 1 large lemon
  • ½ tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • ½ tsp chili flakes optional, for extra heat

Instructions

  • Prep the Wings: Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels to remove moisture. Drizzle with olive oil and toss to coat evenly.
  • Season the Wings: In a small bowl, combine lemon pepper seasoning, paprika, cornstarch, baking powder, and sea salt. Rub this mixture onto both sides of the wings.
  • Cook the Wings:
  • Air Fryer: Preheat air fryer to 375°F. Air fry wings in a single layer for 18-20 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  • Oven: Preheat oven to 400°F. Bake wings on a greased baking sheet for 35-40 minutes, until crispy and golden brown.
  • Make the Sauce: While the wings cook, combine honey, hot sauce, butter, garlic, lemon juice, black pepper, and chili flakes (optional) in a saucepan. Bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally until thickened, about 2 minutes.
  • Toss in Sauce: Once the wings are cooked, transfer them to a bowl and pour the hot honey sauce over them. Toss to coat evenly and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra crispy wings, don’t overcrowd the air fryer or baking sheet.
  • You can adjust the heat level by adding more or less hot sauce and chili flakes.
  • If you don’t have fresh garlic, garlic powder works as a substitute.
  • These wings can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the air fryer or oven to maintain crispiness.
