Equipment

  • Air fryer (large enough for a 3–4 lb chicken)
  • Paper towels
  • Mixing bowl
  • Basting brush
  • Meat thermometer
  • Tongs

Ingredients

  • 1 whole chicken 3–4 lbs
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme or rosemary
  • Optional: lemon slices or garlic cloves for stuffing inside the cavity

Instructions

  • Preheat Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  • Prepare the Chicken: Pat the chicken dry with paper towels. Rub the skin all over with olive oil or butter.
  • Season: Mix all spices in a bowl and sprinkle evenly over the entire chicken, rubbing the seasoning into the skin.
  • Cook: Place the chicken breast-side down in the air fryer basket. Cook for 25 minutes.
  • Flip and Finish: Carefully flip the chicken and cook for another 25 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
  • Rest: Let the chicken rest for 10 minutes before carving. This keeps it juicy and tender.

Notes

• Choose a smaller chicken (3–4 lbs) to ensure it fits your air fryer.
• Patting the chicken dry helps the skin crisp beautifully.
• Add a small amount of lemon or butter under the skin for more flavor.
• To reheat, air fry at 350°F for 3–5 minutes.
